What is the difference between Wix Studio and Wix Velo?
Wix Studio is the visual platform you design and build your site in. Velo is the coding layer inside it. You use Studio for layout, design and content, and Velo when you need custom logic — databases, integrations, member features or automation that the editor can't do on its own.
How much does it cost to hire a Wix Velo developer?

Can Velo connect my Wix site to external APIs?
Yes. Velo backend code can call almost any REST API using wix-fetch, and HTTP functions let other systems send data to your site. We regularly connect Wix to CRMs, payment providers, inventory systems, Google services and AI models, with API keys stored securely in the Wix Secrets Manager.
Is Velo code secure?
It is when it's written correctly. Backend code runs on Wix servers and is never exposed to visitors, and secrets stay in the Secrets Manager. The common mistakes are putting sensitive logic in page code or leaving CMS permissions open — we check both on every project.
Will custom code slow down my Wix site?
Well-written Velo code has very little impact on speed. Slowness usually comes from loading too much data on page load or running repeated queries. We load only what each page needs and move heavy work to the backend.
Can you fix or take over code from another developer?
Yes. We start with a code audit, explain what we find in plain language, fix urgent errors first and then refactor where it's worth it. You'll get documentation so the code is no longer a black box.
Do I need Wix Studio to use Velo?
No. Velo works on both Wix Studio and the Wix Classic Editor. If your site is on the Classic Editor, we can add code there, or migrate it to Wix Studio if you also want Studio's design and responsive features.
Do I own the code you write?
Yes — once the project is paid in full, the code on your site is yours. We also hand over documentation so any developer can maintain it.
