Generative engine optimization (GEO)

AI SEO Services for ChatGPT, Perplexity and Google AI Overviews

More buyers now ask an AI assistant before they scroll a list of links. Our AI SEO services work on what actually affects whether those answers mention you — crawler access, clear brand data, answer-ready pages and coverage on the sites AI tools cite — and we measure it honestly.

What are AI SEO services?

AI SEO services, also called generative engine optimization (GEO), improve how often your brand is mentioned, cited and linked in AI-generated answers from Google AI Overviews and AI Mode, ChatGPT, Perplexity, Gemini and Claude. The work builds on classic SEO and adds AI crawler access, entity consistency, third-party citations and AI-specific measurement.

How AI search tools find their sources

AI assistants answering with live web results search an index, pull a handful of pages and write from them. Each tool uses a different index, so showing up in one doesn't mean showing up in all.

AI platform Where its web results come from
Google AI Overviews & AI Mode Google's index; a page must be indexed and snippet-eligible
Gemini app Grounding with Google Search, governed by the Google-Extended token
ChatGPT search OpenAI's OAI-SearchBot plus third-party search providers, including Bing
Perplexity Its own PerplexityBot index plus live page fetches
Claude A third-party search index plus Anthropic's Claude-SearchBot and Claude-User
Microsoft Copilot Bing's index

The takeaway: classic SEO is the entry ticket. If your pages aren't crawlable and indexed, no "AI optimization" gets them cited.

Generative engine optimization services we deliver

This reflects how these systems retrieve content today and what Google and the AI companies have documented. Where evidence is thin, we say so.

AI visibility baseline

We build a set of the real questions your buyers ask — "best [service] in [city]," "[your brand] vs [competitor]" — and record how ChatGPT, Perplexity, Gemini, Claude and Google AI Mode answer: are you mentioned or linked, which competitors appear, and which sources were used.

AI crawler access and rendering

Training and search crawlers are separate. You can block GPTBot (OpenAI training) and still allow OAI-SearchBot (ChatGPT search), or block ClaudeBot while allowing Claude-SearchBot. Some CDNs and firewalls now block AI bots by default, so we check those too. Most AI crawlers don't run JavaScript the way Googlebot does, so key content must be in server-rendered HTML — routine work for our Next.js developers.

Entity consistency and structured data

We align your name, description, services and locations across your site, Google Business Profile, LinkedIn, directories and review sites, keep Merchant Center product feeds complete, and add Organization, LocalBusiness or Product schema with sameAs links. Google says structured data isn't required for its AI features; we add it because it removes ambiguity and supports rich results.

Answer-first content

Pages that state the answer early, use question-style headings and include specifics — prices, comparison tables, original data — are easier to quote accurately. We restructure key service, product and comparison pages this way. It's good writing, not a trick.

Third-party citations and mentions

AI answers lean heavily on other sources: "best of" roundups, directories, review platforms, news, YouTube, Reddit and forums. We find which sources AI tools cite for your topics, then work on getting you included through roundup pitches, genuine reviews, expert quotes and honest community participation. No fake reviews, no astroturfing.

Freshness and accuracy

For time-sensitive questions, AI tools favor current information. We keep key pages genuinely updated and flag when an AI repeats something wrong about you, like an old price, so we can correct the source.

What's worth paying for, and what's overhyped

A lot of AI search advice is guesswork sold as certainty. Here's where we stand as of late 2026.

Worth your budget Overhyped right now
Crawlers that can reach and read your pages llms.txt. Google says Search doesn't use it, and server-log studies show AI crawlers rarely request it. Fine to add; not a strategy.
Consistent brand facts across the web Chopping pages into "AI chunks." Google says it isn't necessary.
Coverage on sites AI tools already cite Mass-produced AI content. It risks Google's scaled content abuse policy.
Clear, specific, regularly updated pages Bought mentions or fake reviews. Google says inauthentic mentions don't work.
Measurement from your own Search Console and GA4 "Guaranteed placement in ChatGPT." Answers vary by user, wording, location and model.

How we measure AI search visibility

No single tool shows everything, so we combine four.

Search Console generative AI report

Google Search Console now reports impressions in AI Overviews and AI Mode, plus which pages appeared and where. It shows visibility, not clicks.

GA4 AI Assistant channel

GA4 groups visits from ChatGPT, Gemini, Copilot and similar assistants into one channel, which we follow through to leads. Some AI traffic arrives without referrer data, so this number is a floor.

Prompt tracking

Monthly runs of your question set in Semrush or Ahrefs AI visibility tracking, plus manual checks: mention rate, citation rate, share of voice and accuracy. These tools sample answers, so we treat them as directional.

Business outcomes

Branded search growth, and a "How did you hear about us?" form field — the place "ChatGPT recommended you" shows up.

Who AI SEO is for

  • B2B and SaaS companies whose buyers ask AI tools to shortlist vendors.
  • Professional services firms that win work through recommendations.
  • E-commerce brands in compare-before-you-buy categories.
  • Local businesses fielding "best [service] near me" questions.
  • Any brand an AI describes incorrectly.

If your site still has basic indexing or speed problems, start with our SEO services — AI visibility can't land without that foundation.

Why choose Wix Engine for AI SEO

Developers who fix the technical side

Blocked crawlers, empty server responses and missing schema are code problems. Our SEO specialists work with developers who build on Next.js, WordPress, Webflow, Shopify and Wix daily, so fixes ship fast.

Honest about an evolving field

Nobody outside the AI companies knows exactly how their systems pick sources. We work from public documentation, measurable tests and your own data, label hypotheses as hypotheses, and favor work that also helps in regular search.

Wix depth

As a Wix Legend Partner, we know how Wix handles robots.txt, structured data and rendering. For Wix sites, this pairs with our Wix SEO services.

Every AI SEO engagement starts with a recorded baseline: the questions we track, where your brand appears in AI answers today, and your AI Overview impressions in Search Console. Monthly reports measure against that baseline, so any change you see is measured from a real starting point.

How much do AI SEO services cost?

Starts from
$350/month standalone · included in SEO plans (from $500/month)

AI SEO is included in our SEO plans (SEO starts from $500/month), or you can run it standalone from $350/month. A one-off AI visibility audit gives you a baseline and plan first.

What affects the price:

  • Questions and platforms tracked 30 prompts on two platforms is lighter than 150 on five.
  • Your SEO foundation indexing or rendering problems need fixing first.
  • Citation outreach how many third-party sources you need to appear on.
  • Content volume pages to rewrite or create each month.
  • Markets and languages each gets its own question set.

FAQ

Frequently asked questions

What is generative engine optimization (GEO)?

Generative engine optimization is the practice of improving how often AI tools like ChatGPT, Perplexity, Gemini and Google AI Overviews mention and cite your brand. It combines AI crawler access, consistent brand information, answer-first content and coverage on the third-party sites those tools use as sources.

Is AI SEO different from regular SEO?

It overlaps heavily. AI tools pull pages from search indexes, so crawlability, indexing, helpful content and authority come first. AI SEO adds AI crawler management, consistent brand facts across the web, mentions on the sites AI tools cite and measurement inside AI answers.

How do I get my business recommended by ChatGPT?

Make sure OAI-SearchBot can crawl your site, your pages are indexed and your key pages answer buyer questions clearly. Then build third-party coverage: genuine reviews, directory listings and inclusion in "best of" articles. Nobody can guarantee a recommendation, but these steps make you a much stronger candidate.

Does llms.txt help with AI search visibility?

Not measurably, right now. Google has said its Search doesn't use llms.txt, and server-log studies show AI crawlers rarely request the file. It's harmless and quick to add, and some AI coding tools read it, but it shouldn't be the center of an AI SEO strategy.

How can I tell if my site appears in Google AI Overviews?

Open the generative AI performance report in Google Search Console. It shows impressions in AI Overviews and AI Mode and which of your pages appeared, and it's available to all sites. For other assistants, GA4's AI Assistant channel shows visits from tools like ChatGPT and Gemini.

Should I block AI crawlers like GPTBot?

Block training crawlers if you don't want your content used to train models, but keep search crawlers allowed if you want AI visibility. GPTBot and OAI-SearchBot are separate, as are ClaudeBot and Claude-SearchBot. Google-Extended affects Gemini apps, not Google Search.

How long does AI SEO take to show results?

Technical fixes like unblocking crawlers can show up within weeks, once pages are recrawled. Earning citations and changing how AI tools describe your brand usually takes several months, and results shift whenever AI products update their models — which is why we track monthly.

How much do AI SEO services cost?

At Wix Engine, AI SEO is included in our SEO plans, which start from $500 per month, or runs standalone from $350 per month. Price depends on how many questions and platforms we track, the technical work your site needs and how much citation outreach your market requires.
