Wix Black Friday Checklist 2026: Get Your Wix Store Ready in 4 Weeks

Sohaib Mehmood, Owner & CEO at Wix EngineSohaib MehmoodOwner & CEO · 10 min read

Black Friday 2026 falls on November 27, Small Business Saturday on November 28 and Cyber Monday on November 30. For a Wix store, that leaves about four weeks to get ready. This Wix Black Friday checklist covers what to set up, test and schedule in that time: discounts, product data, speed, checkout, shipping, email, abandoned carts, inventory, support and tracking.

Key takeaways

  • Run the main sale as a scheduled automatic discount and use coupons for targeted offers. Wix can apply both to one order, so check how they stack.
  • Clean product data now. Wix adds Product and Offer structured data, but AI shopping assistants can only use what you fill in.
  • Place a test order, and set shipping rules with delivery estimates and holiday cut-offs.
  • Turn on abandoned cart emails, schedule campaigns early and prepare answers to common questions.
  • Connect GA4 before the sale so you have a baseline.

Why this year needs earlier prep

Holiday traffic is bigger, more mobile and more AI-assisted than last year. Adobe forecasts $275.1 billion in US online holiday spending from November 1 to December 31, with Cyber Monday the biggest day at $15.1 billion. Adobe expects 63% of online spend to come through mobile devices, and AI traffic to US retail sites to rise 130% year over year.

Salesforce, in its 2026 holiday predictions, predicts that 20% of holiday ecommerce traffic will come from AI chat agents. It's a forecast, but the direction is clear: more shoppers ask an assistant first and reach your product page second.

Your 4-week Black Friday timeline

Spread the work out. Changing a live store during peak traffic is where most problems start.

Week Focus
Nov 2–8 Plan offers, build discounts and coupons, audit product data
Nov 9–15 Speed fixes, checkout test order, shipping rules and cut-offs
Nov 16–22 Write and schedule emails and SMS, turn on cart recovery, train your chat
Nov 23–26 Freeze design changes, check inventory, final test order, brief your team
Nov 27–30 Launch, monitor, answer customers fast
Dec 1 onward Ship, follow up, review the numbers

Wix Black Friday discount setup

Use automatic discounts for your main sale and coupons for targeted offers. Wix Stores gives you both, and they behave differently, as Wix explains in its guide to discounts and coupons.

Automatic discounts apply without a code. You can schedule them to start and end at midnight, set minimum quantities or subtotals, and limit them to customer segments. Shoppers see the discount in the cart and checkout, and optionally on product pages and galleries.

To create one, follow Wix's steps for standard automatic discounts:

  1. In your dashboard, go to Catalog > Discounts > Automatic Discounts.
  2. Click Create Discount, choose Standard discount (or Buy X get Y).
  3. Name it. Customers see this name, so make it clear, like "Black Friday: 25% off everything".
  4. Choose the discount type and which products or categories it covers.
  5. Add minimum requirements if you want them, such as a minimum order subtotal.
  6. Set the start and end dates and times.

Coupons need a code. Wix Stores supports $ off, % off, free shipping, sale price and Buy X Get Y Free coupons, with start and end dates, total-use limits and one use per customer. Use them for subscriber-only or VIP early-access codes.

Three things to watch:

  • Stacking. Wix says coupons and automatic discounts work independently, so a shopper can get both on one order. A 25% sitewide sale plus a 20% welcome code may be more than your margin can take. Decide on purpose.
  • Overlap. Wix recommends not running more than one automatic discount on the same item. Keep it simple.
  • Subscriptions. Automatic discounts don't apply to product subscriptions. Coupons only do if you tick Include subscriptions.

For product-level touches, add a strikethrough price (a display price only) and a product ribbon such as "Black Friday". You can update pricing on many products at once from the Products tab.

Product pages and product data, for shoppers and AI assistants

Fix the product information before you promote it. Every shopper, and every AI assistant, reads the same product data.

Wix says it automatically generates schema.org markup (Product, Offer and MerchantReturnPolicy) for Wix stores. That markup is only as good as what you enter. Wix's own advice for being picked up by AI agents is specific, factual descriptions over marketing copy, accurate inventory, and every field an agent might filter on, such as size, color, return policy and shipping.

For each best-seller:

  1. Name says what it is. "Merino crew-neck sweater, navy" beats "The Harbor".
  2. Description answers real questions: material, size, fit, care, who it's for.
  3. Every size and color is a variant with its own stock.
  4. Brand is filled in. Wix notes the brand attribute helps Google understand your product.
  5. SEO title and meta description are set in Edit SEO Settings.
  6. Shipping and returns are written out where shoppers and assistants can find them.

Then check where you stand. Wix's AI Visibility Overview (Premium plans) shows how often your site is mentioned or cited in ChatGPT, Gemini and Perplexity answers. Wix is also rolling out agentic checkout through Stripe and PayPal gradually to eligible merchants, so look in your dashboard to see whether you qualify. Our guide on how to get recommended by ChatGPT goes deeper.

If you sell through Google Shopping, connect the Google Merchant Center feed in Marketing Integrations. Wix creates and updates the feed for you.

Check site speed before traffic arrives

A slow store loses sales on the day it matters most. Open the Site Speed dashboard, which shows Core Web Vitals from your real visitors, on desktop and mobile. It needs at least 10 sessions in the last 7 days to show data.

Quick wins from Wix's Core Web Vitals guidance:

  • Keep the top of your homepage light. Move galleries, videos and heavy store widgets below the fold.
  • Don't animate the main banner image. Fade-ins delay it.
  • Remove apps, tracking scripts and custom code you no longer use.
  • Use JPG or WebP for large images, not PNG.

For a deeper diagnosis, read why your Wix site is slow.

Test checkout and payments

Place a real test order before the sale, then again after your discounts are live. Wix's test order flow uses the manual payment method so you aren't charged, and Wix's guide walks through the setup, including testing on a duplicate of your site.

Check that discounts and coupons produce the price you expect, free shipping starts at the right subtotal, every payment method appears, the confirmation email is correct, and checkout works on a phone.

Set shipping rules and holiday cut-offs

Make delivery promises you can keep. In Shipping, delivery & fulfillment, each shipping rule has an optional estimated delivery time field, and you can offer free shipping above an order amount.

  • Fill in realistic estimates and allow for holiday delays.
  • Add an express option for late shoppers.
  • Check that every region you sell to has an active rule. Wix notes that customers in a region with no shipping, delivery or pickup rule can't buy.
  • Check your carrier's published holiday deadlines, then post your own "order by" dates in a site banner, your FAQ and your emails.

Plan email and SMS with Wix tools

Write your campaigns now and schedule them. Wix Email Marketing lets you schedule a campaign and send a test email first. Scheduling needs an upgraded email marketing plan, and scheduled sends count toward your monthly limit.

A simple sequence: subscriber early access, Black Friday launch, Small Business Saturday reminder, Cyber Monday, last chance.

For SMS in the US or Canada, Wix requires a verified toll-free number and a compliant opt-in with its own checkbox. You can also turn on separate email and SMS opt-in checkboxes at checkout. Start verification this week, not on launch day.

Turn on abandoned cart recovery

Abandoned cart emails are the easiest sales you'll recover. Go to Abandoned Carts and check that the automation is active.

Wix counts a cart as abandoned after at least an hour with no changes, and only when it has the shopper's email. You can edit the email, add a coupon and set the delay. A second automation with a longer delay works as a follow-up.

Get inventory ready

Accurate stock prevents overselling and refunds. Wix explains the options in its inventory management guide.

  • Turn on Track inventory quantity for products and variants that sell fast.
  • Bulk-update stock in the Inventory tab after your last count.
  • Decide whether stock should drop when an order is placed or when payment is received.
  • Turn on back-in-stock requests so sold-out items still collect interest.

Wix doesn't email you when a product runs out, but you do get a dashboard and Wix app notification.

Prepare for more customer questions

Every sale brings the same questions: "When will it arrive?", "Can I return it?", "Does my code stack?" Update your FAQ, shipping and returns pages with sale-specific answers, write saved replies for your team, and consider a chat.

Wix Smart Chat combines AI answers with manual replies. You add knowledge rules, such as your shipping policy, and restriction rules, then test it in your dashboard.

If you want help built around your product catalog, our own app, Shop Concierge, is an AI shopping assistant for Wix Stores. Shoppers ask in plain words and get real products from your catalog, with size and color pickers and add to cart inside the chat. It's in early access before its Wix App Market launch. For a fully custom assistant that checks orders or connects to other systems, see AI chatbot development.

Set up tracking in GA4

Connect tracking now so you have a baseline before the sale. Wix's GA4 setup guide needs a Premium plan and a connected domain. Once connected, Wix sends store events automatically, such as product views, add to cart, checkout steps and purchases.

Before launch:

  • Add UTM tags to every email, SMS and social link so you can compare channels.
  • Don't install Google Tag and Google Tag Manager together. Wix warns they can conflict.
  • With a cookie banner, GA only collects data after consent, so expect lower numbers.
  • Running ads? Connect Meta Pixel and the Conversions API in Marketing Integrations, and see our Google Ads management service.

Launch-day checklist (Nov 27 to Nov 30)

  1. Confirm the automatic discount switched on at the right time.
  2. Place one more test order.
  3. Check the banner, sale ribbons and "order by" dates.
  4. Watch orders, abandoned carts and chat questions every few hours.
  5. Hide or restock sold-out variants as you go.
  6. Fix only what blocks a purchase. Everything else waits.

After the sale

  1. Check the end date on every discount and coupon.
  2. Ship orders and send tracking quickly.
  3. Thank customers. Wix's post-purchase automation invites them back, by default 30 days after their order.
  4. Compare GA4 results by channel against your baseline.
  5. Note what sold out, what didn't sell and which questions came up most. That's next year's plan.

FAQ

How do I set up a Black Friday sale on Wix?

Create an automatic discount in Catalog > Discounts > Automatic Discounts, choose the products or categories, and schedule its start and end times. Shoppers see the discount in the cart and checkout without entering a code. Add coupons for targeted offers, then place a test order to check the final prices.

Can Wix coupons and automatic discounts be combined?

Yes. Wix says they work independently, so a shopper can use a coupon on an order that already has an automatic discount. That can push the total discount higher than you planned. Decide which codes should run during the sale and pause the rest.

How do I make my Wix products show up in AI shopping assistants?

Wix adds Product and Offer structured data automatically, so focus on content: specific product names, factual descriptions, complete variants, accurate stock, and clear shipping and returns pages. Track your mentions in Wix's AI Visibility Overview, and check your dashboard for Wix's agentic checkout options.

Do Wix abandoned cart emails include a discount?

Not by default, but you can add a coupon when you edit the abandoned cart email. Wix only sends it when it has the shopper's email address and the cart has sat unchanged for at least an hour. You can add a second automation with a longer delay as a follow-up.
