Lightspeed Venture Partners: An Editorial Website for a Global VC Firm

A large editorial website for a multi-region venture firm. Founders, investors and press can browse portfolio companies, stories, team members and events, and filter all of it down to the sector or region they care about.

Project snapshot

Lightspeed Venture Partners is a global venture capital firm. We built a content-heavy website for them, organized around three linked directories: portfolio companies, people and stories. Shared sector and region filters run across all three, so each visitor can narrow a large firm down to what matters to them.

The challenge

A venture firm's website serves many audiences at once: founders deciding who to pitch, limited partners, journalists, job seekers and the portfolio companies themselves. Lightspeed invests across many sectors and several regions. A single flat list of companies or people would hide what each of those visitors came to find.

The firm also publishes all the time: funding announcements, research, media coverage and event recaps. That content needed a home the in-house team could update without a developer, and it had to stay connected to the companies and people it mentions.

The site needed:

  • A portfolio directory people can filter by sector, region and fund
  • A team directory that covers several offices and role types
  • One newsroom for stories, insights, press mentions and newsletters
  • A place for events and event recaps
  • An editing workflow non-technical staff could run day to day

Our solution

One taxonomy across the whole site

The same sector list (AI, Blockchain, Consumer, Enterprise, Fintech, Gaming, Growth, Growth Private Equity and Healthcare) filters the portfolio directory, the team page and the stories feed. A visitor interested in fintech gets a consistent view wherever they go, and editors tag content once.

A portfolio directory built for scanning

Each company card shows the founders, founding year, investment stage, the year Lightspeed backed it and its current status (private, IPO or acquired). Visitors can filter by sector, location and fund (LSVP or LSIP), switch between featured "spotlight" companies and the full list, and reset filters in one click.

Region-filtered team pages

The team page groups people into Investors, Venture and Operating Partners, and Specialists. Filters cover expertise, location (Europe, Global, India, Israel, Southeast Asia, US), sector and firm. Every card shows a photo, title, location and focus tags, and links to a full profile.

A newsroom for every content type

Spotlight stories, insights, media mentions and newsletter roundups share one card-based stories section with sector filtering. Founder profiles and recent announcements also appear on the homepage, so new content shows up without manual homepage edits.

Events and recaps

Event pages carry photos, speakers, summaries and key takeaways. Sign-up links point to the registration tools the firm already uses for each event.

  • In-house

The firm's own team publishes stories, insights and event recaps without waiting on a developer.
